First Prize Winner (Secondary)
Celebrating both old and new technologies in Essex. A grade II listed bridge completed in 1849 using 7 million bricks. It is the longest bridge in East Anglia and one of the largest brick structures in the UK.
Second Prize Winner (Secondary)
This water tower the second-largest in England when it was built in 1883. It was nicknamed Jumbo after a famous London Zoo elephant by the local vicar as it dwarfed his rectory! It is made from over 1.2 million bricks and 819 tonnes of stone.
Third Prize Winner (Secondary)
An intriguing combination of old and new from the modern smartphone to the origins of radio with Marconi in Chelmsford, via the invention of the first practical amplifier, the Audion triode vacuum tube.
