Digital technology and artificial intelligence have the potential to impact the equine industry considerably. This talk will outline the present (and future) uses of digital technology and AI when working with horses. Examples of application across the industry by horse owners, trainers, veterinarians and paraprofessionals will be provided alongside the consideration of potential risks and ethical concerns of the development and use of digital technology and artificial intelligence.

Roberta's work with horses started over 25 years ago as an equine surgeon in her native Brazil, and has encompassed roles in research, teaching, leadership and general vet practice. She has been involved in several research projects, in areas as diverse as regenerative medicine using stem cells, to the biomechanical analysis of both horse and rider during sporting endeavours. Currently, she is Research School Leader at ARU Writtle, as well as Course Scheme Manager for the MSc Veterinary Physiotherapy and MSc Equine Performance Science. Her teaching is focused on Equine Biomechanics and Sports Medicine. She is passionate about use of technology and AI to analyse the complex movements performed by horses.
