Cycling aerodynamics and why it's harder than F1. Knowing when to use which tool is key whether that’s CFD, track testing, wind tunnel or enclosed track testing. Rob will discuss the limitations of CFD tools and methods and options for different wind tunnel approaches together with the limitation of scale model testing. He will also explore “where are the marginal gains?”, being able to see through the noise to collect small steps forwards.
Rob is a chartered engineer and a Fellow of the Institute of Mechanical Engineers. In June 2017 Rob was awarded an OBE for services to science applied to sport in recognition of his contribution to the performance of British athletes’ over the last 3 Olympic campaigns.
