In order to reduce emissions, more and more people are switching to electric vehicles. This is welcome news but EVs still come with one problem – they have to be charged!

All over the world there are teams, usually of students, working to overcome this problem by building cars which are powered by the sun and can run for thousands of miles without charging from the grid.

Join us as the Cambridge University Eco-Racing team describe how they are preparing to take part in the 2023 World Solar Challenge in Australia, and why building the car is only half of the challenge...

Arrive early and you will be able to look over the team's 2019 car, Helia, which is being prepared to race in Belgium in September this year.

18:30 – Car viewing outside the front of the Ashcroft Building

19:30 – Talk starts in room Que 101 (Queen's Building, enter via Ashcroft)

Note if arriving by car: the usual Sawyers car park may be unavailable due to building work. If this is the case, please use any of the campus car parks which are free from 16:30.
