We are officially booking school groups for our dedicated Schools' Day on Wednesday 21 October, and want to ensure your students have the opportunity to attend. This is open to years 9-11.

What is Playable Worlds?
Co-created alongside the Spark! youth movement, Playable Worlds is designed to show young people how a passion for gaming can unlock incredible career paths. The day aligns with the Chelmsford Science Festival's overarching theme, Future Worlds: Earth, Space and You, by exploring the powerful intersection of science, technology, engineering, arts, and maths (STEAM) within the gaming industry, and demonstrating that a career in gaming really can be for anyone.
You don't need to be a coding expert or a technical genius to thrive in this industry. Modern gaming sits at the centre of an incredible variety of fields – blending creative storytelling, music, design, and digital media with traditional science and technology. We want to show students that whether they are analytical, highly creative, or simply curious, their unique skill sets are valuable and there is a viable pathway for them in this rapidly growing sector.
Why Bring Your Students?
This interactive day is specifically tailored for students in years 9 to 11, enabling them to connect directly with local industry experts, university pathways, and hands-on technology. Attendees will:
- Explore Careers: Discover how skills in gaming translate directly into high-demand STEAM industries, software design, digital arts, and event production.
- Connect with Experts: Engage with local gaming professionals, Chelmsford College, and Anglia Ruskin University representatives to discuss academic and professional next steps.
- Learn Interactively: Experience a festival atmosphere built around youth-designed content, creative workshops, and immersive tech displays.
