The Shire Hall

By Malcolm Noble, Chair of Essex Shire Hall Trust.

The Shire Hall in Chelmsford, Essex

"Shire Hall is Chelmsford's best building, thoroughly civilised." To quote the Pevsner Guide to Essex.

The building has stood empty and little-used since the courts moved out to new premises in 2012. Previous attempts to bring the building back into use have all failed.

Now a new charitable trust, the Essex Shire Hall Trust (ESHT) has been formed with the aim of preserving and restoring the building for the public benefit. This is your opportunity to hear what is being planned and to offer your own ideas regarding the future of Shire Hall. Malcolm Noble, Chair of ESHT, will give a talk on the opportunities that the building offers for the people of Chelmsford and across Essex.
