A chance to hear from our friend and long time CSES Council member, the inimitable Roger Pittock, and June Pittock, his wife and the astronomical brains of the outfit. In this talk, Roger will tell us about their 60 year journey from their first interests in Astronomy to the present day. Along the way we'll see images, both successful and less so, and hear about the equipment used to make them – including the EVscope, their newest toy. Weather permitting we will see images of the live sky from their home.
This lively session is to be interactive. In addition to a Q&A session at the end, questions will be taken – and hopefully answered – along the way.
Roger graduated as an engineer in 1978. He had a multidisciplined career thanks to a plethora of different roles involving electronics, optics, miniature mechanics, major mechanics, low light imaging, high voltage, vacuum,… all within an engineering-based company in Chelmsford.
June has a life long love of astronomy and particularly Astro-imaging. She worked on display tubes, display systems – and for many years characterising CCDs, several of which went on, and some are still on, space missions.
Refreshments will be available from 30 minutes before the advertised start time.
