A FREE IMeche talk for the public by Ian Horsfall - Dynamics Group Leader at RAL Space.

The Rutherford Appleton Laboratory Space carry out world-class science research and technology development with significant involvement in more than 210 instruments on missions to date. As an integral part of theScience and Technology Facilities Council (STFC), RAL Space is the space hub for UK Research and Innovation, supporting its mission to create the best possible environment for research and innovation to flourish.

Ian will talk about his work in the verification of spacecraft, a task which is critical in maximising the success of the mission.

Ian Horsfall worked for 20 years in the defence industry at a ballistics test laboratory. In 2018 he started a post-graduate course in Space Science and a year after completing the course he started work at RAL Space, thus achieving his life-long ambition. In his own words "I always wanted to be a rocket scientist; it just took me 50 years to get there."
