Invented 75 years ago, in East London, the optical sorter has become an integral part of food processing lines all over the world, ensuring everything we eat is clean and healthy. Using high speed cameras and powerful data processors, the sorters require expertise spanning multiple fields of physics and engineering.
In this talk Dr Kelf will summarise the areas of current development, as we push the machines to meet ever greater challenges.
