Call for entries: TEXPO 2022

Call for entries: TEXPO 2022 and Big Bang

Annual Schools' TEXPO: Fri 17 June 2022, Anglia Ruskin University

CSES welcomes entries to the 2022 TEXPO: Schools’ Technology Exhibition.

Open to Y5-13 | All STE(A)M projects welcome | Show your work to scientists and engineers | Cash prizes to be won

Are you in a STEM club at primary or secondary school? Have you made something fantastic in technology or science lessons or for your coursework? Have you created some great software? Have you been doing interesting technical projects at home?

Are you a teacher with pupils or students who have high-quality engineering projects to offer, or a STEM initiative/club that you'd like to showcase? Or are you a parent, guardian or tutor whose child has been working on an exciting project?

If your answer to any of these questions is YES, then exhibit at the annual CSES TEXPO. There is prize money to be won!

Please click here for full details.

The deadline for entries will be Friday 10 June 2022, although please don't wait for your project to be finished before entering. Spaces are available on a first-come-first-served basis.

Please click here to enter your project(s).

If you have any questions, please contact us. We are happy to come into school and discuss or present if this would help.

We would also strongly encourage you to enter the national Big Bang Competition, which is virtual this year. Entries for the Big Bang are open until 20 March – read on for further details.

We look forward to seeing you in June.

More than prizes to be won

TEXPO doesn't just serve as a means for winning prizes (although that is of course a big plus); you will gain a lot more from it than that.

This is an excellent opportunity to develop your interview and presentation skills, as you explain your project to our judges, many of whom are from local industry. You won't just get professional feedback and tips from real engineers and scientists, you'll also get to talk about careers – this is great exposure and looks good on your CV or university application!

You will get the chance to meet VIPs such as our MP and council leaders, and show your work to them. And you'll see and vote for other students' projects from schools across Essex.

The only limit is your imagination

All STE(A)M projects are very welcome, including coursework, hobby projects, and those completed as part of clubs or schemes. The awards cover all disciplines: you are automatically entered into all categories and will not be asked to select one.

Big Bang 2022

From team work and getting creative, to analysing and communicating findings, The Big Bang Competition is a brilliant way to develop valuable skills for the future. It's also a great chance to get feedback from real scientists and engineers and to celebrate and share students' achievements.

Projects can be about any topic in the field of STEM – it doesn't matter if they've been done using simple everyday items or through research in a science laboratory, in school or at home – it's all about the idea and the enthusiasm behind it!
