Meet the team

Chris has lived and worked in Chelmsford for much of his life and was a pupil of Chelmsford Technical High School. Before obtaining an honours degree in Physics from Surrey University, he worked for a year at Marconi Research Laboratories on lasers and holography. Following university he joined VSO and taught science in West Africa for a year before joining EEV (now e2v) as an Engineer where, over 32 years, he progressed through many different senior management and technical roles with 11 years as a board director. Subsequently he joined BAe (now Selex ES) where over 10 years he held a series of senior roles before retiring in 2012.

He now devotes his time to CSES and also to two sailing clubs where he holds committee positions. He has a passion for understanding and celebrating our industrial heritage and promoting the benefits of a career in science and engineering. He is a Fellow of the IET.

Chris was President of the Society from 2012 until 2014.
