Engineering Technician – Automation and Digitisation, Teledyne e2v

Since leaving The Boswells School in 2017, Jacob has worked within the RF Power division of Teledyne e2v in Chelmsford. Over the years, he has completed a Level 3 Apprenticeship in Manufacturing, and undertaken a degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering (Embedded Systems) with London South Bank University. Alongside his academic work, he has focused on process improvement and the introduction of automation and digitisation techniques within the business. This has given him the opportunity to explore and develop advanced manufacturing technologies such as industrial robotics, machine vision, and embedded control systems.

As an apprentice, he has had the privilege of working with many of the local primary and secondary schools as a STEM Ambassador and to promote careers in engineering. This includes recently starting a robotics club with Chelmer Valley High School with the aim of expanding to others in the area. His work with CSES so far has centred around supporting the annual TEXPO competition as well as promoting the society at local outreach events.
